Bill Northcott
Founder & Chief Innovation Officer, Agrible
Bill Northcott is the Chief Innovation Officer at Agrible. He works on developing and researching the science and feasibility of new products. Bill is a sixth generation farmer and currently manages a 500 acre corn/soybean operation in East Central Illinois. Bill is an internationally renowned expert in agricultural hydrology and crop water use. Over the last 20 years he has worked on agricultural projects on 6 continents. He has a B.S. and Ph.D. in Agricultural Engineering and an M.S. in Agronomy / Soil Science, all from the University of Illinois.
His expertise lies in soil hydrology, chemistry and fertility, agricultural meteorology and the impacts of climate change on agricultural production systems, data science and software development. Prior to founding Agricultural Informatics he was a faculty member at Michigan State University where he also served as the state Extension specialist in Irrigation, Drainage and Water Management. Most recently he served as a reviewer to the National Academy of Sciences’ 2014 National Climate Assessment Report.
